DELD i.e Digital Electronics and Logic Design is a subject in the 3rd Semester of Computer and IT engineering of Pune University. The syllabus for DELD is same for both Computer and IT Engineering. Question papers are also same in University Examinations. This subject is easy to learn, not at all difficult and neither confusing unlike other Electronics related subjects. The subject is pretty scoring and interesting to learn. A major subject in terms of marks . DELD is a 200 mark subject. i.e. 100 marks Theory, 50 marks practical- i.e DL and 50 marks term work. This subject is not theoretical and hence is a scoring subject.
Attention : DELD is really scoring!!! Scoring above 75 is a very easy task !!!!
Why do we need to learn this subject ?
Unit 1 -Easiest unit in this subject. Introduces to you only the very basic concepts and principles of Digital Electronics. The unit is very important as it holds the pillars to the upcoming units. More of sums and less of theory.

Why do we need to learn this subject ?
The fundamentals and implementation of digital electronics are essential to understanding the design and working of consumer/industrial electronics, communications, embedded systems, computers, security and military equipment.
Devices used in applications such as these are constantly decreasing in size and employing more complex technology. It is therefore essential for engineers and students to understand the fundamentals, implementation and application principles of digital electronics, devices and integrated circuits. This is so that they can use the most appropriate and effective technique to suit their technical need.

Books to refer :
Among local authors ,I would suggest Techmax will suffice and is a very nice Book. The book is written by th author J. S. Katre, one of the famous authors of PU and the book also cover the entire syllabus. The size of the Techmax book will make you feel tensed, but it is really easy to learn. The Technical Textbook is also good but it is a bit vast..... Almost 50% more in size than Texhmax.
Among the foreign authors....I would recommend R. P. Jain's Modern Digital Electronics. This is the most widely used book in Digital Electronics at the beginners level. Apart from that , a few more text books from the foreign authors are available....which will be deployed below.
Analysis-
Unit 1 -Easiest unit in this subject. Introduces to you only the very basic concepts and principles of Digital Electronics. The unit is very important as it holds the pillars to the upcoming units. More of sums and less of theory.
Unit 2 - A little bit confusing unit. People who hate electronics and related subjects will find this unit pretty time consuming. Some concepts in this unit if not understood should be them mugged up!! Because most of the questions from this unit are predictable. An easier way to learn this unit is to refer animated PPT's available over the internet.
Unit 3 - A lengthy unit ....both in term of concepts and no of pages, but all the concepts are very easy to learn and understand. You need to understand many concepts from this unit thoroughly as it needs to be performed in the practical session of this subject.
Unit 4 - This unit is also lengthy .....but a little confusing when compared to the other units. Scoring unit ....as it is entirely numerical. Certain concepts will require multiple glance to actually understand.
Unit 5 - A new concept....'ASM' & PLD..... easy and interesting. Again this unit is scoring and it is not lengthy at all!!!.
Unit 6 - Again a new concept (VHDL)....now ,1 point I would suggest is.... This unit is really lengthy... and investing huge amount of time in this unit is pointless. Only target the basics and a few predictable questions which will help you to attempt 75% of this unit. Rest of the unit 'Microprocessors' is very easy to learn.
Verdict:
DELD is really simple and interesting to learn . Not at all theoretical...and hence this subject is very scoring. You can easily score 75+ provided you invest sufficient amount of hardwork. Not at all time consuming subject.
